3M is a global innovation company that never stops inventing. Over the years, our innovations have improved daily life for hundreds of millions of people all over the world. We have made driving at night easier, made buildings safer, and made consumer electronics brighter, less energy-intensive and less harmful to the environment. We even helped put a man on the moon. Every day at 3M, one idea always leads to the next, igniting momentum to make progress possible around the world. 3M continues to be an innovator and leader in adhesive technology development, as demonstrated by the successful implementation of 3M™ VHB™ Tape technology into the glazing industry.

Products

  • 3M™ VHB™ Structural Glazing Tapes B23F & G23F
  • 3M™ VHB™ Architectural Panel Tapes B11F, B16F, B90F, G11F, G16F, G90F

3M™ VHB™ Structural Glazing Tapes replace traditional wet glazing sealants in structurally glazed curtain wall systems, commercial windows and doors. 3M™ VHB™ Structural Glazing Tapes act as the primary bonding component for the structural attachment of glass units to glazing frames. 3M™ VHB™ Architectural Panel Tapes are used for many applications in the construction industry, including the manufacture of architectural panels for curtain walls, stiffener bonding, exterior building cladding, and interior panel and trim attachment.

Features, Benefits & Performance Capabilities

  1. Increased Productivity – faster production of glazed units due to no cure time and immediate handling strength associated with 3M™ VHB™ Tapes. Faster production, shipping and installation of glazed units allows for faster enclosure of the build exterior resulting in less time to building occupancy.
  2. Reduced Costs – the use of 3M™ VHB™ Structural Glazing Tapes in place of traditional wet glazing sealants may result in a reduction in overall project costs. These cost savings are a direct result of the increased productivity, reduced labor costs and reduced waste that come from using 3M™ VHB™ Structural Glazing Tapes as the primary bonding component in the glazing system. Typical waste associated with 3M™ VHB™ Structural Glazing Tape and 3M™ VHB™ Architectural Panel Tape is <5%.
  3. Low VOC Adhesive – 3M™ VHB™ Structural Glazing Tapes and 3M™ VHB™ Architectural Panel Tapes are very low in VOCs (<5 g/L) and qualify for the U.S. Green Building Council’s LEED EQ Credit 4.1: Low-Emitting Materials: Adhesives & Sealants.
  4. Improved Appearance – a benefit of glazing with 3M™ VHB™ Structural Glazing Tapes is the improved aesthetics, including cleaner sight lines and sharper edge lines than typical wet glazing sealants. 3M™ VHB™ Architectural Panel Tapes often eliminate mechanical fasteners resulting in invisible attachment methods.
  5. Proven Performance – 3M™ VHB™ Tapes have been used in the construction industry for over 30 years. Thousands of buildings around the world have successfully utilized this technology for structural glazing and architectural panel bonding applications during this time. These products have demonstrated their ability to meet curtain wall and architectural panel system performance requirements around the world including dynamic wind load and seismic tests.

Warranty Information
